Topic: Cased Hand Blown Green Glass Decanter. Blanko? Scandinavian?

Is this decanter made by Blenko?  There are no signatures or labels.  There is a pontil on the base, but it is very shallow and almost unnoticeable.  With the stopper, it sits exactly 13.25" inches tall and it's base is 5" inches in diameter.  Thanks for your help.

There is a really good site for looking at Blenko glass and reading about it, good bits of info on id'ing etc which is VMGlasshouse.  I had thought that Blenko pieces mostly had unpolished pontils but don't quote me on that  :ooh:.

I am going to say no to Blenko. Although my books are packed away. My reasoning is colour and the thick casing on the stopper.

The shape is beautiful though and love that 'perfume' style stopper. I would look to Scandi or possibly Polish :huh:.

Thanks for your replies.  There is a pontil on the base, but it is not as obvious as most of the other Blenko pieces I own.  I would think that if it was as harsh as most, it would ruin the look of the cased base.  There are a few pieces made by Blenko in the 70's that look similar.  I found it at an antique mall that was selling a Husted "u-cut" vase right next to it.  The Husted vase didn't have a pontil either.  I admit that the color threw me off.  I don't think it is a Blenko color.  It looks more Scandinavian I think.  The stopper is very unusual.  I wish I could figure it out.

I was looking around for another decanter I have and came across an example of a "morven" decanter from Caithness designed by Downhall O`Broin.  Is anyone familiar with Caithness and this designer's works?
