Jurnikl "Hobnail" lamp base?
« on: September 14, 2010, 06:43:30 PM »
Heya!

I'm sure I've seen a discussion about a lamp base like this somewhere online, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, it's labeled "Bohemia Glass - Made in Czechoslovakia" and it's definetly NOT a candlestick that has been redesigned. I'm absolutely sure this isn't a homemade lamp base. Does anyone know anything more about it? Is it a Jurnikl design? Which factory made these? etc.

Best Regards
Emil

That same base shows up here:

I wonder if that is where you saw it.

EDIT: Oops, no I am wrong, those were candle holders.  Nevermind.

Emil, what materials are the stem and bulb holder made from?

How is the top of the glass base finished? It looks like it would 'normally' be the base (bird bath base)?

John

Hi ppl!

Hmmm, I'm not so sure anymore it's not a candlestick after all   :thud:
I could have sworn the "Hobnail" candlestick was much smaller, but the measurements seems to be right and the bottom and hollow base does remind somewhat of the candlesticks in the "Moravia" range.
Here are some more pictures anyway...The stem is wood and the holder is a regular plastic holder.

Best Regards
Emil

I found another one of these, there's no way that's a coincidence!

Emil, perhaps they were made for a retailer in Sweden, given that they've not surfaced elsewhere (yet!)?

Definetly possible. There's also a cheese plate with Swedish words on it so evidently there were products made specifically for a certain region.

Perhaps, but I do want to point out that the ones I've found aren't copies or imitations.
