« on: September 14, 2010, 08:10:42 PM »
Hi,

Bought this today i think this may be a pigeon? Can anyone id this as Murano? and possibly a maker? I've searched the net but did not find anything like this one, measure's 4.5 inches high.

Thanks Robert.

This may look as though its old but I've a strong feeling that it's more recent and probably not Murano.
The blue and yellow sections (maybe the pink too) are not coloured glass but clear glass given their colour with the used of coloured frit (grit, powder). Hence the unevenness of the colour. This is a more modern technique, not traditionally used in Murano. Though that may have changed in very recent years, I doubt it.

The piece shows some skill which can now be found in several countries.
Pete
