Ruby coloured vase
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:04:29 PM »
Hi, struggling with the ID / era of this ruby red vase with hand painted flowers. Its 11.75 inches tall with a dia of 4 inches. The pontil mark has been smoothed over creating a depression on the base.

It is not a pontil mark, the vase has been blown in a mould with an integrated foot. Looks as if the thing was ruby flashed and subsequently decorated with cold enamel. Bohemian is 100%, maker will remain unknown, datewise you're looking at 1880-1910. It is not a bulb vase. It was probably part of a set of 3 for the top of a cabinet - a so called "garniture". But it could also be a single piece.
