Jan Beranek for Skrdlovice 5988?
« on: November 20, 2010, 07:41:41 PM »
I was lucky enough to win this beautiful 25,5cm amber-cased-in-clear vase  ;D.  I know it's Czech, but I would appreciate confirmation about designer and pattern number.  I think it's Jan Beranek for Skrdlovice, pattern number 5988.  As there is a lot of wear to the base (and two little itty-bitty knicks), I'd say it's an earlier version.  Am I correct?

Thank you!

A vase many GMB members have in their collections! As usual, I think you are probably correct Anik, I like these vases a lot. A nice example, as for early, I don't know, topas and clear was used extensively for almost the whole time of the factory production, post 1950 (and these vases were produced for a long time too). The very early ones, only judging from what I have read and seen, this vase seems to have had a less ornate, less worked, casing of clear so I would "guesstimate" mid 60's on, for this style, which I prefer anyway, ornate and heavy can be good I think! I am sure it will look great in your collection... A classic Skrdlovice vase.

Let me support my friend bOBA,
this vase was very popular, ane had been produced until the end of Beranek Glass in Skrdlovice in 2008.
To estimate the age of vase is not easy from few pictures, but it makes no difference.
This piece is an ikon of Skrdlovice glassworks.

Keep it Anik with love, nobody will make the same more.

Thank you Robert and Jindrich -- I'm perfectly satisfied with your responses, and with my vase, whichever decade it was made in.  :kissy:

Emmi, thank you for sharing!  :hi:

If anyone else would like to post a photo of their 5988 vase, I'd be more than happy...   ;D

Now I've got a green one too...  a little more 'controlled' and less wild.  :)
