Hi! I'm new here at this board and while I look around I thought I'd throw this out there. I have this vase (?) - I've never seen anything like it before. How about you? Help?  Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the board,

What a fascinating piece. My immediate reaction would have been that it looks too thick and gaudy to be older, but something about the way your flash has reacted with the green makes me wonder whether it has some uranium in the mix. Have you got access to a blacklight to check? In addition, the white veins look to me to have been created by some sort heat-reactive effect?

I have to say, it's the sort of thing some collectors love, but others ... don't.  :)

Hi! And thank you!

I don't have a uv light (been looking for one for a while) but I have wondered if it was some sort of vaseline glass in part. I've seen some vases (like those here: http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/victorian_glass/vaseline_glass.htm) that have that wierd, rooty-bumpy organic feel.

I agree it's a love-it or hate-it piece. I've had it for years and years - it came from an older relative's house (no one knew where it came from!) and I chose it because it was just so delightfully weird. It matches nothing I have, and I don't know what to do with it, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it, either

Hi, and Welcome  :)

I have NO idea at all as much more talented people than me -- I was just wondering though IF this might be defined as a J.I.P (Jack in the Pulpit) vase (or Pulpit) vase.  Kinda looks that shape but just not sure if the correct definition would be a Pulpit vase.

Is it a Pulpit vase?  or like a Pulpit Thorn vase ?   Tulip type vase ???

Just asking .....??? :-\  as I am not sure of the definition/shape is called either  :spls:

Kralik, eh? I've added that to the title to attract the Bohemian glass experts.

Kralik is certainly an option and I agree with Cathy about the possible uranium (aka vaseline) glass. It's not a JiP; it's a flower with some leaves to make it stand up. Can we see a picture in good daylight please.
