Heckert, Harrach or Loetz
« on: February 03, 2011, 02:43:47 AM »
Greetings,

Looking for opinions on this piece that I picked up last weekend at a local market.

It stands 7.5” tall.

So far opinions seem to vary: Heckert, Harrach and Loetz

Detail shots of this piece are here. The first piece that appears on my blog;

Mod: The link below no longer shows the item in question. Please see inline image added by Mac later in this thread.

While you are looking on my Blog, does anyone happen to know if the Diana Cobalt Cisele has a shape number and or a production date?

Thanks,

Mac

I would rule out Loetz. I do not believe it is by them.  You may also consider French, as the enamel work "feels" French to me.....

No problem Mike....
I did not think French for sure....  just a suggestion....  I do not do much with enameled pieces....  Not really my style of glass... I appreciate it but do not collect it at all.....  so many would know much better than I would on this.....  Mike would be one of them....   ;D

I thought either Harrach or Rindskopf when I saw it. I don't know, but I favor Harrach. The enameling is so thick it almost looks like cameo, doesn't it? I've never seen this type of painting for Harrach before -- a good puzzle.

Thanks for looking and sorry for late response. My computer died!!! Using my old lap top.

Anyway, this type of glass is new area of collecting for me and I noramlly don't buy it. But, I respond to glass on a gut level and this one reached out to me. It was a great price so I bought it. The glass body and colour looks like the pieces from the Passau identified as Harrach - see my blog. That's the best, through help, that I have come up with.

Any input on the Diana Cisele? Shape # or date of production?

Thanks all. Wish me luck on my computer woes!

Mac

Mac, I'm glad you had some tech backup with your laptop. I'm reaching back into my early days learning about Bohemian glass. Did Harrach make blanks that were decorated by other companies? I don't know if this is so, but I wonder if it might be why the decoration is different than what I am accustomed to for Harrach. The glass and form is what made me think Harrach. I would feel more sure if someone who knows more about them would verify that the decoration style is one that they used.

Anita after reading Brian site perhaps Harrach made the blank and Heckert the decoration. It seems to fit. Yes?

I wish I could say for sure, but I don't know enough about Bohemian glass to be believable. I hoped that Warren would be along. Maybe someone can poke him. The vase is a beauty, so well worth a look. It looks very comfortable with the other beauties on your blog spot, which has been in my favorites folder for a while.

Thanks Anita. I spent some time yesterday looking in all corners of the net for Heckert images and there certainly seems to be a similar style between those identified as Heckert and mine.

So, for the time being I will settle for "Harrach blank decorated by Heckert" as an ID.
