When heated the silver chloride becomes liquid

Ah, nothing like a bit of expert knowledge!

So in terms of crizzle stones Sue I would guess capillary action would disperse it.

Hi,
I am very pleased to have this Mdina fish join my growing collection of Boffo animals.........   It shows the true brilliance of this Italian glassblower, his attention to detail can be seen in image 3 where the blue iris has been given a black pupil.
The height is 8 inches ( excluding the plinth )

All best wishes,
                      Patrick.

That looks very Mdina-made to me, Patrick - the colouring is quite like my Precious Baby Fish.
I don't really like animaly things much, but I'd happily have that living on top of my loo cistern!
(Don't be insulted by my choice of location, it's actually a very prominent position, in keeping with the watery theme of the room, and would be seen and admired on a very... ummmm.... regular basis!)
It's a beauty!
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Lovely form and a lovely fish. Did you stick it on that block of stone or did it come like that?

Hi,
Yes it came on the plinth ................
There are other fish by him that have been on glass rocks but maybe the stone plinth is original.

 Regards,
                Patrick.

Can I take it John, that you don't think the plinth does anything to either complement or compliment the fish?
I don't either - I'd be looking to find ways to get it taken off - safely, of course.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Plinth? I thought it was a bar of soap!  :rn:

Actually I rather like the base, (slinks into corner, with head down)  :t:

It does seem a bit odd Sue and I guess I am generally not fond of plinths. ::) As I am digging a hole here I might as well keep going. If it had to have a base for stability and I was making the base I might have gone for a different material, I definitely would have made it a different size as to my eye the proportions are a bit out. If the base is not original then somebody probably used what ever they had to hand.

Who cares though? The fish is wonderful, I reckon I could live with it for quite a while before it bugged me to the point of doing something about it.

Hi,
Well I have heard what you have been saying about the plinth......................
This may be a better solution!!!!!
Cost more than the fish ..............

Regards, Patrick.
