Caught my eye, you did. Have not seen this model before, could be Leerdam but does not have to be. Could be from any maker who went in for modernistic design - Kosta, VSL, one or two French makers and perhaps half a dozen Germans. And a few Brits.
Back to the buisiness of tanning....

That's a great reference site Paul, thanks for sharing it....I have had a quick look on the catalogue listings on this site as it includes Maastricht.

You might even get them to reply if you send them pics of your signature....they were the people that were so helpful when I was in doubt about a Leerdam Rabbit listed on eBay.

Good Luck,  and in the meantime I will keep searching, if John doesn't want supper too early!!

arenn't marks like this not generally only identifiers to keep handmade decanter and stoppers together rather than being an identification for maker ? (... which - by the way - does not look to be a Dutch maker ...)

these are indeed tie numbers, not makers marks.

............'tie numbers' - tut tut......Nigel will be nonplussed again ;).     Yes, in the sense that the marks on both the stopper and the body are identical, then they indicate the match for a particular stopper with a particular body.     I did however, once almost have a row with a well know decanter collector (whilst on holiday in North Wales  -  who assured me that in Ireland when putting together stoppers and bodies, the workers just grabbed any two pieces and shoved them together  - but I don't really know whether this was 'just a line' to shut me up).     In my limited experience, all matching numbers on decanters and their stoppers have been just that  -  numbers and never letters of the alphabet.        What has puzzled me with this one is that although it seems to be No. 47, then the slash for the continental '7' is missing.
