Help identifiy glass vase
« on: February 18, 2011, 05:38:49 PM »
I am trying to find out about this vase, it was a gift. I is about 9" tall with 4.58 wide mouth. The ribs are on the inside and outside of the vase.

Hi, welcome to the board.

It doesn't look familiar to me, but for others who are more knowledgeable, it might be handy to have a picture of what the base looks like, and the rim.

Also, if it was a gift, was it new when you got it, and approximately how long ago was that?

Thank you for the reply. I noticed a sticker on the glass and by chance the sun was shining through this morning on my desk exsposing some additional information. The words "Hand made in the Czech Republic" The sticker is damaged and I am able to make out some of the letters i beilieve are as follows "_hemia Gid__. Thank you again.

Thank you for this, I appreciate helping put another piece of this puzzle together. Any ideas as to how I could find more information about this particular vase?

It's post 1993, because before that time the label would have said Czechoslovakia. The Bohemia Crystal labels often have a symbol in the middle of the label that can tell you which factory it is. It would help if you could attach a close up picture of the remnant of the label, or describe the symbol if it's still visible.

If it is cut crystal, the most likely candidate by far is the Podebrady factory. I don't know who the current designers are.
