Iridescent vase with drip green effect
« on: March 13, 2011, 11:06:01 AM »
The vase measures 5inches tall (12.5 cm). It looks like Kralik or similar but as normal, I am unsure. The base is almost completely flat but does have very shallow pontil style centre and the top rim is cut.

If it is, am I right to assume that it would have had a metal collar originally?

How well is the rim polished.... well or rough?

If it is finely polished then it likely did not have a collar or frog....

It is Kralik by the way......

Thanks for the confirmation regarding the maker, is there any info regarding age and shape code etc?

The rim is not smooth as such, feels more like frosted glass, therefore I assume it had a collar?

Based on the rim description it would have had a frog....  a collar is generally glued and the residue is almost always present to some degree.

There are no shape codes for Kralik glass, as there are no production records that can be accessed.....  What little is known to exist in the way of company records are later records from post WWI and are locked in archives in the Czech Republic until 2090. They have never been seen by a researcher that I am aware of......

Time frame wise I would date the piece to around 1910 or so.....
