Item ID help please - purse or handbag
« on: March 22, 2011, 04:25:47 AM »
Could anyone direct me where to start researching this quirky item?

It appears to have a faint (and perhaps spurious?) signature.

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, these are new from China. Retail about $9.99

No, this one is definitely old glass and exceptionally heavy for its size.

The contemporary ones from China are very heavy. The retail name is Laguna.

This one is different in that it has a "fastener" rather than handles but researching it could be a nightmare as the US term for handbag is often purse. Pocketbook or pocket book are other options.

Thanks, all.

I'd be really surprised if anyone had managed to 'distress' this glass to make it appear aged and trust me, I see a LOT of Chinese crap glass, but I suppose anything is possible.

Sue, are you saying that Laguna is a brand name, or that that's what this sort of thing is called?  Just did a search, but came up empty.  I'll try again with different keywords.

Laguna is a brand name. Can we see the base. The photos show no signs of age, though all that dark background doesn't help. A plain untextured white one would be better with more purse and less background. What size is it?

I was having some trouble resizing.

Hope this gives you an idea.

Sorry, Sue, forgot to measure - I'll do that.

The base is an indented circle, can you see that?

It washed out with a white background, so I tried the picnic table!
