brown bubbled vase for id
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:44:21 PM »
I never seem to get very far with these things, mine almost always end up being obscure and unknown.    This one is a little over 9"/230mm  -  with a snapped pontil mark, which looks as tho it might have a little age (some dirt in the recesses) - and there is some base wear.     I always hope for the Dutch 'Antiqua' or 'Etruska' designs, but think the bubbles are too small, and anyway the shape is probably wrong.    All suggestions welcome, and thanks for looking. :)

with an unfinished bottom like that, don't look for a top brand. if it has a polished pontil mark you may wonder... here are the antiqua models you were hoping for.

thanks Ivo  -  your pieces are just what I'd like ;)    I suppose that the shape of my vase told me it wasn't one of the Dutch ones  -  so think I will keep it for a while, and then pass it on probably if it remains a mystery after a month or two.
