Wow, possibly Decorchment-related!
I do hope so - I think it quite likely - my (very basic, not always correct, "Glass Source Book", says his speciality was "simple shapes and the minimum of decoration"
 - this would fit with this piece!

(I knew I should have trusted my guts when I saw it - I should always trust my guts!)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I've thought this over and I'm 100% sure that it is Antoine Leperlier, now that I've remembered some rather salient information :)
Still trying to date it, but almost certainly made between 1978 and 1983.

Hi everyone good news your huntches are right!! I got this e-mail below from Carolus Hartmann confirming it!

Dear Vickie,

This vase is definitely a piece of art glass made by Antoine Leperlier from France. Youz cabn look this up in the book  of  Giuseppe Cappa '
L'europe de l'art Verrier', Page 284. If you dont have the book, I can send you a cpoy of Leperliers Vita.
Best wishes to you
Carolus Hartmann

Finally solved the mystery! Thankyou everyone for your hard effort in solving this puzzle. I Have been googling Antoine Leperlier's name and it's interesting to see what style he does. I am going to e-mail him and ask about the design name and the date of the piece.
Thanks Sue for the offer of the guided tour to your personal museum. I'll let you know If I ever go as far as Dundee!

Cheers Vickie !
P.s I'll let you know what Antoine says!

I'm really pleased for you Vickie - the quality of this piece is on a par with some Galle I've seen in museums.
I think it's probably a good thing you've found this out before you think about parting with it.

ps, I can provide coffee (or tea) and cake as well as a glassy blether.
Have you ever taken yourself to the antiques centre at Doune? It's a sister place to Abernyte - but it tends to have even more glass - it's a treat of a place - there are even red kites nesting around that area.  :sm:
