I have no idea what I have... ID = Higgins plate
« on: May 23, 2011, 07:20:20 PM »
Hello,

I apologize in advance if I'm not posting this right, I am a newbie...

I have this plate and I cannot make out the signature.  I know absolutely nothing about it.  Can anyone offer any information?  Thank you!

Jill

:rah:  Hi there - and Welcome:

I am not sure about your plate, but could the Signature be *Higgins* as a pure Guess?  Can you post a pic more closer, larger?

Thanks, and Welcome.

Not sure but here is a site with a Higgins Signature on it.  Looks much like yours.  http://www.jax-deco.com/higgins.html  See the 6th ROW down for a Example signature

But that still is a ??? as I am only guessing here...

Absolutely stunning.  Very typical of Higgins.

Hi Jill, what a lovely decorated platter.....does it have a stick man on the reverse by any chance?

Thank you everyone for your replies; you have been extremely helpful!  I've gone to the suggested sites and I believe you are all correct and that it is a Higgins.  Now that I know that name I can see that is what the signature says.  I do not, however, see a stick figure.  Was the stick figure indicative of a certain time period?  I'm guessing by the colors that it may be a piece from the late sixties or early to mid-seventies.
