blown glass handpainted goblets/bowls and plate
« on: June 27, 2011, 02:26:55 AM »
I am trying to find out about this glass that belonged to my grandmother.  The URL is https://picasaweb.google.com/cbreimann/PicturesOfGlassware?authkey=Gv1sRgCIuW7YLV0q-d-AE&feat=directlink . Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Lee

Any Spanish connection in the family? I have seen similar work by La Granja - the royal glassworks near Madrid. But Venetian should not be excluded. In any case, it is old - very old. How many pieces are there?

I tried not to mention it - but my La Granja book is in storage so unable to look it up. But I seem to remember 18th or early 19th...

Thanks, Ivo. I always find it hard to guesstimate styles, which aren´t very central mid-european...  :pb:

Actually my great-grandparents and grandmother lived in Brazil and Paraguay from about 1910 to 1923.  Does that help?  I appreciate your really fast response!  Lee

Sorry, you also asked about quantity.  I have 6 plates, bowls, wine (?) glasses and smaller sherry (?) glasses.  Thanks.

That opens the possibility that it is actually portugese - i vaguely remember seeing this style there too. Nice lot, that is. But incredibly hard to attribute.
