whitefriars 9719 jug in FLC gold or amber??
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:29:58 AM »
Hi - looking for clarification please

I just bought this 9719 Whitefriars jug - ebay item 270779314996 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270779314996

sorry cannot post a picture yet - see link to listing above
I don't have it yet but it looks to be made in FLC gold or amber ? This pattern is not listed that I can see in anything other than kingfisher or ruby (both of which I have). The handle also seems to be coloured rather than clear, and the colour seems to fade towards the top of the jug. Any confirmation of colour appreciated, and is this pattern jug known to be made in other than ruby or kingfisher??

thanks

That's interesting, I too thought only kingfisher and ruby for this jug. Excellent spot and I imagine you must be very pleased with the price.

You need people with Whitefriars knowledge rather than me though!

Thanks John

yes it was on a Buy it Now price so I snapped it up. Tried to post the query to Whitefriars site but it needs a photo to post it and until it arrives I don't have one of my own.

Any ideas on the colour?

I would assume one of the FLCs too, so it is going to be heavy but I think you are going to have to be wait until it arrives, sometimes the wait is excruciating isn't it...

There are photos on whitefriars.com somewhere in the General Whitefriars Glass Discussion forum showing the different FLC amber colours, I have no idea how to find them though as it does not seem to be searchable. :-X

These are not the photos I was thinking of but they were easy to find, scroll down for a bunch of amber tricorns: http://www.whitefriars.com/bb_orig/viewtopic.php?t=2171

Thanks John, much appreciated. Comparing pictures it looks most like the New Studio Golden Amber - 3rd tricorn from the left.
will have to wait for it to arrive then look again.

Hi Jak, catalogued from 1969 to 1974, golden amber well gone by then so will be FLC gold a tad early for NSA I fear, only catalogued in ruby and kingfisher so quite a scarce one, even scarcer a few were made in tangerine which was introduced in '69 also.........
