Joseph Said.
This image has been confirmed by Ron Wheeler and, I believe, by Said.

Any chance you might post a pic of the whole beast? I did get a peek at it elsewhere - I think it's a truly fabulous shape.
I know it's not a Harris shape - it's a later Said variation, but I really think these are some of the most attractive Fish around - especially in the brown colourway. I have three, (plus one variation on the shape) - they look spectacular en masse!
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Sure, I'd be happy to Sue. The photo on my flickr account is quite poor, so will try and get a good shot in natural light tomorrow morning. Btw, how easy is to date Isle of Wight pieces? I have a bottle with stopper signed Michael Harris, Isle of Wight. Can start a thread on this tomorrow if you think you could help me out with some more info.
Many thanks, Anthony

It should be reasonably easy to at least roughly date Isle of Wight Studio Glass.

Are you another Harrisophile in the making??????????  :sun:

Kind of more by accident than design I guess. I bought the piece you've identified as being by Joseph Said at a car boot when I was about 16 and it lived with my mother until about five years ago. The other pieces I've blagged from her as my interest has begun to shift more from pottery to glass. I have a charger too - but this is unsigned and has a nibble out of it.

Will post some pics. Cheers Sue!

Many thanks, Anthony

Is the charger Mdina or IoWSG?
Chargers are fairly scarce from either - lack of signature doesn't mean anything. (except in terms of money  ::) - personally, I prefer unsigned, because they're not so expensive - I love the glass - a pawmark doesn't add anything for me).
I think, given the scarcity, a wee bit of damage can be forgiven. Could it be restored?

It's Mdina. I always thought it was strange that such a substantial piece wasn't marked. But, as you say, a signature makes no odds to the beauty of the piece.

Interesting you should mention restoration. I bought a great jug a few weeks ago that had been in the wars but it was so cheap I couldn't leave it there. It's lost the end of what was once, probably, a very elegant extended spout. I've been wondering if it would be possible to do anything with it. But I wouldn't know where to go or who to ask. Any tips gratefully received...

Many thanks, Anthony

Sue, I originally thought these two pieces in the link were Dobson, however, looking again at Said's paw mark they do seem to be closer to his signature. Do they look Said's paw print to you..?
