S Muller? Czech vase?
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:43:01 PM »
Hello all,
I am rather intrigued by this vase as I cannot seem to find any information on it.  It is a delightful piece of (art glass?) and is signed S Muller.  I have looked and looked but all I can find is Muller Frères of which it is not that I do know.  Could anyone shed in history please.

No expert on Murano,or very little else, but it's not something I'd think of as Murano, not from what I've seen, you need Anita or some of the other Italian glass buffs, ;D ;D

The line in front of Muller may be someone's "I" for Igor Muller. Muller's signature is neat, though, and the pontil finish he is famous for is like a raised disc. I haven't seen this type of glass come from him.

It is not typical of Murano glass. I would say most likely not Murano. The reverse (clockwise) swirl makes me think of... I can't say it. I don't want to doom the piece before it has a chance. It does not look like a bad piece of glass except for the messy signature.

Thanks Anita I did not think of it as Murano but I like the piece and still do.  To me it does have a quality feel, I have not picked up a piece of ..... in a very long time, I hope it isn't.  I think it is the czech area maybe.
