Is this iittala glassware?
« on: September 24, 2011, 08:49:05 PM »
I found a beautiful set of 7 of these dessert bowls and was wondering if they are iittala glass?

I bought them from an estate sale at the same time as I bought some Kekkerit and Aslak glasses so I wondered if perhaps they were from the same manufacturer. I haven't been able to find these in any reference book I own, or one a reliable source online.

Does anyone have any further information on them?

Sklo Union is also possible... as is one of the Italian factories. It is probably from a high volume factory.

Hi jollypolly, the glasses on the shelf in this 'blog' look very like yours, is it worth askeing if they know what they are?

Wow good find! I am going to post them a message to see if they know what they are. I found them online in an ebay discussion thread (only 3 posts) but they were incorrectly identifying them as Aslak, which they definitely are not.

Are these glasses correctly identified as Aslak then, cos the base looks very like your dessert dishes.

All examples are different to the ones in the thread.

I've had another good look at the first link I gave, and I think there are enough similarities to consider these to be worth following up.....not the Ultima Thule bowls in the foreground,  but the drinking glasses in the centre of the grouping.
The patterning of the bark is very similar and the slightly faceted foot looks the same as well, if you translate this to the shorter version of your dessert bowls, jollypolly.
However, I agree with Frank that the second link to eBay listing is very different, so sorry for the wild goose chase there!!

Those glasses are made differently. You have to really look at the differences not the similarities. Italian mass produced most likely.

Agreed, not Iittala.
Italian, Czech, Austrian (I see these quite often here),...
