nose sculpture !
« on: October 20, 2011, 02:08:28 AM »
In a local consignment shop there is a booth specializing in mid century stuff where I have bought some Murano pieces that also has some nice  Scandinavian stuff. Today I saw  an approximately 7"tall x 7" diameter solid heavy bark- textured green glass cylinder with a large nose sticking out. It has a conical concave base. This is a really heavy , solid piece. It's amusing, and well done. It wasn't too expensive, but I didn't have much on me, so I don't have pictures. Does anybody know what it might be?

Hi.  Is it a vase?  Could the nose be a handle?  Could you maybe do a wee sketch and post a photo of that?  (I'm very curious!)

I will do that  later today, but no, it is totally solid and very heavy. I can't see any functional use, except perhaps a pedestal, but the top is also textured

What an unusual looking piece that is... I want to pop a pair of specs on the nose and see how it looks. :24:  Has it a greenish tint as it appears or is it totally clear? The tint I'm seeing is making me think recycled glass from somewhere like Spain possibly, but I've honestly never seen the like before!

yes, I didn't think of it, but it is that same pale green as the Spanish recycled glass. I like the specs idea, but he has no ears, ha ha.
