Found this little chap today, without doubt Whitefriars, sadly unable to quack, as he never got a beak
I presume Amber, although colour is a little darker in the head, and there is a clear part at the base, with a patch
of dark amber above, and i think the base is unusual, its on a completely round base with a typical Whitefriars
polished Pontil mark, ive looked and cant see another with a similar base, also plenty of age wear.
So , whats his story , a second, a prototype, a practice piece?? Or just a lucky survivor :P

Id be interested to know what the panel thinks about him

Cheers
Andy

I'm holding one in front of me now and the base on mine's more oval than yours.  Also, the bubble pattern is missing on your one.  If it's Whitefriars, then it perhaps it never got a beak because it had already gone wrong.

Edit:  Just noticed your has clear glass at the base..think this isn't Whitefriars at all.

Not Whitefriars, amber and gold were uncased think only ruby ones were clear cased the bases more egg shaped a polished pontil mark on a duck is more exception than a rule very few around.

Arctic blue version with polished pontil not often seen.
The quality is just not there with your example.

Thanks folks,
im still convinced its Whitefriars. i think if you saw it in the flesh, you may agree.
My theory is the glass was not mixed properly, the clear glass near the base is a mistake, its not cased!
The amber colour has a dark patch above the clear, and again, just looks as if it went wrong.
The glass blower realised this early on, and didnt carry on, why it was not thrown away, or back into the pot,
im not sure.
Thats my theory and im sticking to it.  8)
I will try to get some more photos today, and i will put it in my pocket and take to Birmingham next month so
i can show it off ;)
Cheers

Sorry Andy should have said 'in my opinion' it's not Whitefriars.
Do you mind if I link it on Whitefriars.com some knowledgeable duck collectors on there may have a theory.
By the way the 'rare' polished pontil version sold for £16  :o
