Sorry, Bill - I was being deliberately vague geographically, as I'm not good at spotting which makers might be which from that area - my guts just had a sort of "probably Spanish or Mallorcan" reaction to it. It was a thought, not a definite id.  :-[

Nothing to be sorry about my friend. If it were a hurricane lamp can it be some what dated? There is a bubble in the base that looks like a chip.

Hurricane lamps have been around for a very long time Bill - I don't imagine it's too old though......
probably a good bit younger than me.

I can see it sitting on a red and white chequered seersucker tablecloth in a little taverna........

Well, if you are not 150 years old it isn't old enough. I think I have all of the information I need on this piece of glass. Hurricane lamp from Spain it is. I have some old bottles I will need to have the experts look at. Thanks to all that participated in this quest for identification. Bill
