Perfume bottle and other glass
« on: March 09, 2006, 04:47:10 AM »
Hi folks,

Am brand new here :)

I've always loved old glass things, especially bottles and little vases and such, and more especially perfume bottles, although I've rarely bought any. Having just rented an apartment and starting from scratch, including with decorative things, I spotted this little perfume bottle for 50 cents at an auxilliary 2nd hand store today and scooped it ... figuring it would look great in a window with the light shining through it (I'm like an old crow, drawn to anything pretty-shiney :)

Anyways ... it's an older bottle, atomizer type, but probably not really old. I wonder if anyone can tell me any of the history or maker details or value?

By the way ... I could end up getting really hooked on this glass collecting thing LOL

Cheers.[/img]

Hi folks,

I was able to build a webpage through Geocities and upload
some of the pictures of my glass that I'd like to know more
about. Don't know that any really have any value, but have a
look if you'd like and any feedback is appreciated of course ;)

I'm also wondering if collecting and flogging glass things might
be a good way to earn bits of money here and there.

Kanadiana

It takes a looong time to be able to 'earn bits of money here and there' with glass in my opinion.    So be careful how you spend your money at first!

You've come to the right place to learn anyway, which is a good first step.  :D  :D

Hi Max, and thanks!

Did you look at the pics of the glass pieces I have? Well ... it won't be hard to make a profit on them if I sold them, as I  paid a grand total of $3.oo (Canadian funds)  for the lot ... 50 cents each for the perfume and ink bottles, and $1.oo a piece for the bowls, found on different days. I love that store :D

Yard sale season is about to kick in as well.  :D

Ah well, that can't be bad then!    I did try to look at your GeoCities link but it's not working at the moment.  :(  Maybe it's just a temporary glitch.

Downside of Yahoo is a bandwidth limit, both times I tried it was unavailable, including just now... better to switch the pics to Anne's space.

Hi Kanadiana,
I have just tried to look at your photos, but they are not available.

Apparently, the data limit has been exceeded.
Please can you see if you can fix it.......I am curious.  :D
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Here's the one I'd already posted of the perfume bottle:

I'll try upload the other pics of the rest now.

The Wheaton NJ Ink (?) bottle:

http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=1

... it won't let me upload the bowls ... maybe I've exceeded
the upload limits and will try again later.
