opaline candle thing
« on: January 16, 2012, 09:43:06 AM »
This candle stick is remarkably solid and well made. The body is pink opaline grading to white, the handle is white. The bottom is open (think inverted goblet) and the rim is polished smooth - which is a bit unneccessary as it is where it stands on.
Any leads are welcome. Should 1 think Italy? Belgium? Height is 19 cm or 7something imperials

I found these designed by A Seguso which seem to have a similar top to yours

Superb sleuthing - i cannot thank you enough. I think Archimede Seguso Albastro is a pretty solid attribution, especially with the refence pieces. My day has been made :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

:sun: you're welcome!  somewhere on the board Anita posted a link to a number of 'books' showing Archimede Seguso pieces - I haven't had time to search for it yet and look through, but I will.

Ivo, this the link that Anita posted - worth looking through just for the beautiful glass but there are also some fascinating photos and of course, info!  15 books in total easy to scroll through.

Great to see further confirmation. I checked the books and yes, a similar colour scheme was used in 1959 (book 5) :-)

Yes thanks  :sun: I checked it out a while ago.  I just don't think mine is Seguso to be honest....could be wrong though I suppose.  His looks a lot more 'sophisticated' in execution somehow if you know what I mean? Mind you I do know he used orange and clear -  mmm, perhaps I ought to revisit it if only for another double check, rather than just writing it off.
