Etched crown mark on crystal stemware
« on: January 23, 2012, 07:42:55 AM »
Hi all

I have 4 crystal glasses with a lovely etched pattern and roundels on the stem and I would like to identify the maker.

The mark is to the underside of the base and is a crown shape.

Could the internet family please help by letting me know who made these?

Regards
Pete

Hi and welcome, Pete!  :hi:

I think it´s a Theresienthal mark. There´s a good chance you might find your glasses with this starting point...

Kind regards,
Dirk

edit: Perhaps a kind mod could add Theresienthal to get Stephan´s attention? :kissy:

Hi Dirk

Thank you so much - it is a Theresienthal mark. Now off to see if they have any age to them.

Regards
Pete

Hi Pete,

my two cents: Pattern "806" with an mark used not before 1982. If you could tell us the height, i could tell you the use of this special glass.
BTW: It is not an acid mark but a sandblast mark. And the decor is not etched.

Dirk: A crown is enough to attract my attention.  ;D
Kind regards

Stephan

Hi Stephan

Great information thank you. The glasses are 15cm tall and have a rim diameter of 7.5cm

Hi Pete,

my catalogues say that it is the "Porterkelch",  a goblet used for porter.
Kind regards

Stephan

Great thanks Stephan.

Now I can convince my wife that I really do need to drink that beer!
