id request for uranium candle holders
« on: February 04, 2012, 05:46:47 PM »
I've looked through both of the Barrie Skelcher volumes (Schiffer), and although Pamela has a couple of holders a bit similar, I don't see this design on the pressglas-pavillon.  Also looked through the Sklo-Union CD but not joy.         Just before I wade into the glas-musterbuch, does anyone recognize the design please.     Recessed base, and a flat outer rim foot, which usually means it's got some age.    Needless to say no marks of any kind, and diameter is something like 4.3/4" - 120mm.            Thanks for looking :).

thanks Anne  -  small candle holders like this seem to be uncommon - at least when compared to the vast array and quantity of sticks.    Thought I had it once or twice, there are some quite similar pieces in the catalogues, but no joy still I'm afraid.     They do glow well, as you can see  -  in fact if you went to bed with one in your hand and a u. torch in the other, you wouldn't need the lighted candle. :24: :wsh:

Yeah there are a few shown in the catalogues on Pamela's musterbuch site. I have a Bagley one somewhere, but they are not as common as the taller ones for sure.

thanks for your thoughts  -  guess we must keep looking.    Looking at them in the flesh right now, I'm getting a very slight hint of that 'acid lemon' in the colour, if that helps anyone :)
