Glass bird (paperweight) with aventurine
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:33:09 PM »
I didn't know if I should post this under glass or paperweights?

I don't know if it would be considered sculpture, a paperweight or both?

It's a lovely delicate shade of pink with what looks like gold flakes swirling around in the core.

The base is nicely polished if a little asymmetrical.

I looked around in the glass zoo and found things vaguely similar but nothing that made me think, BINGO!

Strangely enough, I think I spotted something very similar on that British TV show Scrimpers. On a holiday in Devon a family visited a glass studio and in the shop there were glass birds in the same shade of pink and with similar tail-feathers. I didn't see if they had aventurine. Nor did I catch the name of the glass studio they visited. Perhaps this is the key?
