SKLO UNION 'STYLE' BUT IS IT GERMAN?

Bought this lovely vase and it's very reminiscent of what I think of as a kind of Sklo Union style. However, does anyone know, is it German by any chance? Any information would be appreciated.

Hi,

It isn't Czech.  Astrid has got one of these in her "German" album:  https://picasaweb.google.com/102861706167408125672/1GermanGlass
I don't know if the maker is known.

All I can say... I see them regularly here, but so far they have escaped
ID. Should I dare a guess I'd say Walther 70's. Hope it's just a question
of time until a labelled one comes my way.  :)

The style and shape of this vase is consistent with German solifleurs of the 70s, and I see it regularly being offered on ebay.de, but that's all I can say of origin. I've suspected Walther glass so far, they made the most different shapes and the mix of surface structure reminds me of other Walther pieces. The only thing that makes me doubt it is that the colour of the crystal (probably) is so greyish, more than other Walther pressed crystal block vases.

I haven't seen any block vases that were marked Friedrich so far, and I haven't seen any sold with that name attached either. It wouldn't be impossible that they jumped on the solifleur bandwagon in the 70s  there's just nothing around to point in that direction.

Do you have any reason why you're thinking of that company? I could always use more info on German glass...

This topic should probably be moved. It's certainly not Czech. I'm 95% sure it belongs in German glass.

(The angel smiley has vanished so I'll have to be Miz cool!)

Thanks Astrid for the contribution re: German glass, I'm also in total agreement. I didn't have a logical reason for mentioning Friedrich - it was just a complete stab in the dark so sorry, I haven't got any info on German glass that you haven't got. This vase looks like it will stay a bit of a mystery for now!
