Topic: Help identifying a vase not sure but maybe czech?

Hi all, I'm new here could see an introductions thread, though it was probably staring me in the face. Was wondering if anyone could help me in identifying the attached vase. I got it from an old neighbour who was an old Irish lady who gave it to me along with some other bits which she was going to throw out when she was moving to a smaller home. The vase as you can see is quite thick glass. It is approximately 34cm tall (13 1/2 inches) from tip to base. It is mostly clear with maybe a slight tinge of green/brown, which I'm guessing may be due to the thickness of the glass?.it also has to lines of colour the blue which you can see in the photograph a green one and an orange one which are not as prominent. all three of these run the length of the glass. Meeting at the base and mingling together. The base is triangular in shape, and completely flat and polished. There are no makers names, signatures or marks that I can see. The top ends in three petal/leaf like shapes as you can see in the photographs

I hope some one can tell me something about the vase. As a piece of glassware I find it really attractive

Simon  -  hello and welcome to the GMB
Things like this which certainly appear to hail from outside the UK, are most definitly not my forte  -  but the shape and general design reminded me of something I acquired a year or so back, see  here.......... http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34061.msg18http, although believe this remained without any definite provenance.
Do you think this might have similartities to your vase - certainly the winged top and flat base sound similar.

Thank you for the reply. Im completly in the dark myself. More at home at identifying tv and movie related toys from 1970's onwards especially Japanese varients, though no expert. Glass while I love looking at it baffles me. I can see some similarities in the general style and shape of the pieces. I think mine tapers slightly more and it's base while triangular has rounded corners. Also the indents sculpting on the sides of mine seems more organic as if maker has pulled and cut the molten glass.

I've been having a look round at some other sites and found some pictures of Mstisov glassworks pieces. They certainly seem to have the same colours that mine does in it's stripes etc and the organic shapes as well. Ive posted some links to them. What do you think?

thanks Simon  -  good to see that you've been doing some more investigating - although as I mentioned I'm a bit of a non-starter these days when it comes to material from outside the UK.
Sometimes it can take a day or two before those people who might have the skills in this area get to see your post  -  fingers crossed someone will be able to help - we do in fact have some very knowledgable members who have a lot of experience regarding Czechoslovakian glass.
I dare say recognizing styles and probable origins of glass is a difficulty for all beginners  -  knowledge only comes with much effort and handling of pieces.

Hi Simon,
I am not convinced that the vase is Czech.
If it is, I am rather sure you can rule out Mstisov; I would rather look into Chribska.

Many thanks I shall have a look, see if I can find any more of their work online, I know the vase is at least pre- early 1980.
