Czech glass sculptured bowl?
« on: April 22, 2012, 03:14:22 PM »
Hi All,

First time post so before I start I would just like to say hello to everyone and hopefully I'll be around for quite a while :-)

I have a Czech bowl that appears to be on a pedestal of thin stem "legs". It has the original label attached and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on it. It stands approximately 8" tall and is 5" wide at the bowl top. I have provided a couple of pictures for you to look at and would like to thank you in advance for your help.

Hi and welcome to the board  :)
I'm sure someone will be able to help you with your request very soon.  However in the meantime would it be possible to upload your pictures directly to the board please?  otherwise if photobucket or an external link goes down, the pics are lost and the information becomes meaningless.  This has happened on many threads over the last few years and when someone goes back to research information they find it hopeless unless the pictures are there as a reference which I am sure you will understand  :)
Many thanks
m

Hi Dave and welcome to the GMB. :)

Your Czech bowl, despite the label, looks very Polish to me.  See the Galicjan (a Polish glassworks) website for very similar items:  http://www.galicjan.com/pl/oferta/czarki

Perhaps the label on your item is an importer's label?

Thanks for letting me know and I have edited the post and uploaded a couple of pictures direct on the forum.

Thanks ever so much for your help and quick response. I would say that based on those pictures it definitely looks Polish.

Many Thanks

One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine. William Hartnell
