When I bought these Christ and Mary sticks the seller said they had bought them in Belgium and that they were made by Val St Lambert. While checking on Pressglass (thank you Pamela) http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/kerzenhalter/kerzenhalter.html I see that there are other possibilities, they include Scailmont and Fenne. Looking at the top of the sticks it seems to me that Fenne is a strong contender for maker.

They are clear glass with a lightly iridescent pale marigold finish, 28cm tall. Any ideas?

John

You may  be interested in reading an earlier report I did on these (it is on my old website, which is archived but not active).

http://www.geocities.com/carni_glass_uk_2000/JesusFake.html

The first examples of these iridised candlesticks was about 8 years ago. I purchased one from a (Belgian or Dutch, I forget) seller on eBay; around the same time a friend of ours found a pair of them in the UK (at Newark, if memory serves me right). The seller was from Belgium.

On the early examples, the iridescence flaked off easily and quickly. We assume the candlesticks had been cold iridised quite recently. More recent examples have been done better and the new iridescence stays on them a bit longer!

Thanks Glen that is great, it all dovetails very nicely, even the Belgium bit.  ;D

The seller also had one more stick but that was in clear.
