Iittala? Napkin holder? Paperweight?
« on: June 23, 2012, 06:12:27 AM »
I have seen this before but can't remember where, or who made it. And no idea what its used for. I know someone here will recognise it straight away and put me out of my googling misery. And yes, at this stage googling is a dirty word!

tea light. Several companies made - and make these. There is a Finnish company as well - but I think that actually most of these are now churned out by Pasabahce.

Well I never would have guessed that!! Thank you Ivo! I guess it would look quite gorgeous with light through it. Super heavy piece of glass. I'll now google with at least a clue LOL

Tea warmer. The tea light keeps your tea warm in the pot

Hi Selina,  there is a thread about these somewhere, I will try to trace it for you.
The Scandinvians use them for keeping food warm....my friend from Denmark always stood her teapot on one with a candle under it or her coffee pot....it looked very chic on the tea table.....she was the one who introduced me to Scandi glass.
I'll go and have a look for the link.
Ivo is absolutely correct Paşabahçe now make many of them and Glasi Hergiswill (Swiss) do as well.

Wow! Thanks! And a second use I would never have guessed.. I gather the glass doesn't get overly warm either because it's so thick...

And Hi Rosie...I lost your email, my whole laptop got wiped... I've lost everyone's emails, etc :(
