Mdina Tiger Vase
« on: April 08, 2013, 05:53:24 PM »
Here is a vase bought today for a good price. Mdina 'Tiger' I believe. Not seen this form before with undulating rim. 6 inches high and heavy. Not etched to base but has sticker. Date 1970/80?

Any info welcomed.

Adam

This is later than "Tiger" - it's the new version, now called "Marble". This version has been made for some considerable time, though.
The difference is that the colours are much flatter and the texture of the background is now a creamy off-white with dark brown speckles rather than the frothier bubblier yellowy background created with silver chloride. The wavy rim also indicates a late piece.
