Weird Flying Saucer Cased Vase - another TK Maxx ??
« on: June 01, 2013, 07:36:35 PM »
Hi, I have just bought this interesting vase and unfortunately haven't a clue as to its age or origin.   It measures 7.5" tall, is very heavy, has a highly polished base with some wear and has gold stripes running through a blue/amber cased body.   I am hoping it is not another TK Maxx special, any help would be greatly appreciated!

This looks familiar, fairly sure it is not recent TK Maxx but I have drawn a blank so far. Something about is saying Riihimaen Lasi to me but...

Beautiful piece of Czech glass... a very desirable vase, designed by Josef Hospodka for Chribska glassworks in 1965.  :)

Thank you for your comments.   It really makes a change to have a good find!   I have googled images and found similar style vases now I have a name to work on.   Thanks so much for the information.  I really appreciate it.  I have found a great image for a Mica Diamond Chribska vase by the same person and this is very similar.   Thanks again.   Would never have identified it on my own :)

Hi there,

You can see this vase and other designs by Hospodka on J. Parik's wonderful "Ceskoslovenske Sklo" website here, as well as in the 1966/9-10 edition of the Czechoslovak Glasrevue here.

Anik  :)

Hi, it is a great looking vase but it is destined for Ebay.   Does anyone have any advice re price/description?  I don't want to under or over price it.   Perhaps a bit cheeky to ask but grateful for any advice.

 Hi Kerry,

We do try to avoid valuations on this site as they are very subjective. I would suggest research prices achieved via completed listings on auction sites, then decide on a price you would be satisfied with and make that your start price. Good Luck with the listing and don't forget to post a link to it on the selling forum.
                                         Warmest Wishes,

                                               John

Thanks John, that's a very fair and wise answer.  I will use the sell link on your site when I get round to listing it.   Thanks for taking the time to respond.   :)
