Tall Glass Structure /Vase
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:58:09 PM »
Hi can anyone throw some light on this one.
i am guessing its a generic murano glass sculpture piece.
Its 18 inches tall with a ground but not polished pontil .
It looks like its been built up from successive zig zags on top of each other.
Its no use as a vase though  :)
Thanks Julian

My guess would be China from the sheer size and the unpolished pontil mark. Almost certainly not Murano though.

I have seen these in a local Bistro in various sizes including some around 60cm high. Used with flower displays, the kind with water bags. Very eye catching as a display. They had a £260 price tag  :o :o they were from China.

A pretentious bistro that must think its in London with all their Southern Prices  ;D ;D

Found in TKMaxx for a 20th of that price.
But rather eye-catching.  :)

Maybe i could sell it back to TKmaxx
Oh well it only cost 10 quid at a car boot but thought it was worth a punt just from the size
May have to find a tall place to put it now  ;)

If you found it attractive (which it is) then £10 is agrand price - and you can use it without worrying about damaging it. :)
Although I wouldn't try putting water in it, you can experiment with dried flowers, grasses, peacock feathers, ting-ting or fairy lights. Even an umerella or walking stick!

It did look very impressive with the flowers in, a very nice display. A flower arranger could have a field day with it.

They call them TJMaxx on this side of the pond.   There's one a few miles away from me that I might have stepped into twice in the last 10 years.

I like to keep an eye out in TK/JMaxx, just to see what is coming out from the far east and how their techniques are improving and developing - and to help identify stuff I see in the secondary market being touted as something else!
