Is this a Loetz decor?
« on: July 07, 2013, 04:23:03 PM »
Hi,

at least Iīve seen it described thus: ebay
Found another example today and I think the shape looks very similar to a Schaumglas piece I sold
some time ago: CW  ;D

Thoughts?
TIA
Dirk

Looks like the same shape to me Dirk.  I like it, it's a very jazzy decor :) .  I don't know if it is or isn't Loetz but the shape looks the same as your Schaumglas picture (was that picture lifted without permission and posted on CW then?)

Yep, both pictures were taken from the ebay auction. But in this case I donīt mind too much, because it
was the buyer - he should have asked though... and/or acknowledged...

Yes it is Loetz... it is a later decor not seen all that much.  It is considered to be a deco variant on an Art Nouveau Decor. I do not know that it has ever been officially named or identified other than it is Loetz.

Thank you, Craig.
Strange enough there is another one ebay at the moment... Noticed that with other rare pieces, too.
If they pop up, they come in groups...lol

My experience over the last 10+ years on ebay, is that they generally come in three's.....  Odd but true...

Just as a side note, and off topic.....

In defense of the CW poster, he would likely be innocently oblivious to the etiquette of asking about the pic, and is simply a self described lousy photographer that likes to post his recent purchases.  He and I communicate quite often..... He is also quite the knowledgeable authority on Russian Icons and helps curate the largest collection of them in the US.

For what it is worth, he has a magnificent collection of American art glass..... I mean truly a stunning mix.... If you want to see some beautiful early American glass, click on his profile pic to see all of his posts of American glass...... He has become quite infatuated with Bohemian / Czech glass in the last several years.....

He helped me with mine....  :-)   I have had one for around 40 years, plus some other unusual Russian pieces such as a Holy Gospel printed in Moscow in the late 1800's with finely worked silver medallions and corner pieces on the front and rear cover.....
