frank thrower ft224 candy vase?
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:40:58 PM »
I would welcome opinions on this amber coloured vase - bought as I thought it was a  1978 Candy Vase by Frank Thrower. It appears to fit the specifications in Dartington Glass the First Twenty Years. Did I read somewhere a while ago that there are 'fakes' of these vases out there? Any thoughts...  ???
All good wishes, Tom

Hi there

I hope you don't mind me asking, but did these come in blue?  I have one that looks identical to yours, proportion-wise and the texture (?) around the inside top, except it's taller.

Many thanks

Santa

Thanks for the exchanges above... other opinions as to whether this amber vase is a true Frank Thrower design would be welcome. Also there is a rough mark around the inner rim (see second photo) - any ideas? :-\
All good wishes, Tom

I imagine that with the roughness around the inside of the top, that it would have had a glass stopper once upon a time.  I tracked my blue one down and it's missing its stopper.
