Large jug with flared lip like Whitefriars.
« on: September 29, 2013, 09:27:48 AM »
Could anyone help with an ID for this large 26cm ivory swirl jug with a flared lip rather like the ones on Whitefriars jugs?  It has a ground pontil mark.  I was thinking Scandinavian but, as a beginner, these thoughts can be dangerous.  Ivo?  Christine?  Chris?  :-)
Thanks.

Jugs can be very tricky but a photo of the base may help.

This is the base but not the best picture - the pontil mark is nicely ground and corresponds q well but not perfectly with the inner whiter ring - which is part of the jug which now appears yellow/ivory cased in white.

I should have said that the inner white ring is part of the cased glass, not the clear casing, incase that wasn't apparent!
