whitefriars candle holders ? not sure any help please
« on: November 08, 2013, 11:33:51 AM »
thought these might be whitefriars but the base looks quite old. cased amber glass with controlled bubbles and dimpled pontil. you can see where the rod was but slightly ground
any ideas
there is always someone worse off .

I would say not I have not seen the style before nor would I associate that type of base finish with Whitefriars

thanks for looking. thats what i said when i bought it, said it should be concaved but the seller said it was quite old. he had a vase on his stall that was the same colour and had bubbles. i knew that was whitefriars and showed him what the base should have looked like. so i bought both with a big discount on these.

Hi, my answer was not purely based on the finished of the base. I have had quite a few pieces 'unfinished' more on experience of not coming across this particular style of candle holder over the years.
The only thing I can think of similar is the pen holders for Parker...
