Any advice would be appreciated on ID four paperweights.
« on: April 07, 2014, 06:14:15 PM »
I have a lot of four Early
MILLEFIORI paperweights. I was told by an friend that
they appear to be Murano.

Three of the Stars/ Star of Davids measure 2" High x 3" Base and are in fair condition. No cracks or breaks just a few bubbles. One of the stars shows some caving.

The larger one Orange/Blue/White is appx. 3.5 " x 2.5" High. It appears to
be in good shape.

I would so appreciate if someone can give me their thoughts on possible maker, age and value.

Thank you,

Can't really determine anything from that tiny image.

Welcome to the board. You need to resize your high-res pictures so that the longest dimension is about 700 pixels. The board will create the thumbnails. Please don't keep reposting the same thing.

What we need to help you with ID is a separate thread for each weight with a base shot, a top shot and a side shot along with dimensions. If you need to add more, you can reply to your own thread.

You are unlikely to get much help on valuation, as value is too subjective, and it's not the aim of this board.

Hi skatesara, I have removed your duplicate posts.

Please start a new thread for each of the four paperweights with just one photo at a larger size. If you have problems with resizing your photos, please send them directly to me via the email icon below my user name on the left of this message and I will sort them out for you.

The main reason for a separate thread per item is that if there is discussion about multiple items, things can become quite confused.

When the new threads are set up I will removed this one.

Hi.

I'll hazard a guess that at least two started their life in China in the last 30 years. But let's see the larger images.

We do not offer thoughts on specific values of pieces publicly on this board, but some members may give you their views privately (I am one that is happy to do that).

More generally, any of the modest millefiori that have come out of China in the last 30 years  (and then found their way onto the market unmarked, or with honest labels, or with misleading labels - eg Murano, or in the US something sounding Italian and including the word Murano) could probably go to your local charity shop without a problem.
