Is this a Loetz vase
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:17:08 AM »
Hi, I bought this vase at an antique market. The seller thought it was french, but it looks more like Loetz Phanomen glass to me. The background colour is gold graduating to clear, with iridescent swags of silver, blue and gold. Stands 13cm tall, has a few air bubbles. No signature.
I would be very grateful for any information.

Looks more like modern(ish) studio glass. Reminds me more of Hartley Wood than Loetz but the iridesence might not be right. A base shot would be good.

Bottom has been ground flat. A small part of the pontil mark still left.

It looks matte. Is it? If so, that reinforces my previous thought of modern(ish) studio. (Not all matte bases are Chinese and this has nothing else that makes me think Chinesel.)

The blues and green are highly reflective, changing colour depending on the angle of light. I had a look at some Hartley Wood glass and there are similarities.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
