Huge pressed glass cockerel/rooster covered bowl
« on: July 09, 2014, 08:38:24 PM »
A bit of a variation on a hen on a nest theme, this fab huge cockerel which I found today.  Its over 8½" high and really heavy.  The lid and bowl is made in a 2 part mold.  The seller thought it was a jelly mould, but I can't see that working, so presume its to hold eggs.

I've looked through all the catalogues on glas-musterbuch, Pressglas Pavillon, and other websites without success.  I'm not sure how old it is.  The glass has a slightly yellow tinge to it.

Has anyone come across one of these before?  I did spot a trinket box with a similar design on etsy being sold from Switzerland, but that was just described as vintage with no maker.  The seller have any info about its origins unfortunately as it was a gift.  She kept hens and all of her gifts were poultry related ;D
