Donīt know what it is, donīt know the maker....
« on: July 19, 2015, 07:57:04 PM »
Hello,

I bought this glass item just because I thought it really looked nice and it looked well/made. But to be honest, I donīt know what I bought, I donīt know what it could be used for (besides being decoratieve..) and I don't know who made it.

Can anybody help me out?

Looks like a blank for one of those crystal desktop award/trophy things.

Hi and welcome to the GMB. Definitely a trophy or commemorative blank, but unusual to see one blank. There are other cast-glass plinths, showing maps or figures that are quite collectable.

Thanks cubby01 and David E for the quick reply! Much appreciated! Not thought about that purpose but it sure makes sense. Any idea if this item has some value?

Just got interested in glass art but I find it quit challenging to distinguish "good" from "bad" glass......
