Found this in a charity shop today, it glows beautifully under uv and has what appears to be a Sunflower impressed into the pontil, any ideas on a maker please ?

A number of 'Stourbridge' factories used marks like this, also Walsh,B'ham, so unless someone recognises it that's the best I can do,  ;D ;D

Should have added that the feet have been finely ground flat...see pic and a better pic of the pontil seal ....measures 9cms high and 19cms wide

Dear Angela/Simba,

I have a similar embossed mark on the bottom of my S&W Mat Su Noke piece below. So possibly Stevens and Williams?

Kind Regards

Andrew

Dear Chris,

I've never tried and my UV light is broken. :'(

I'll get another, give it a go and let you know.

It is a fantastic colour combo.

Kind Regards

Andrew

I believe(possibly from memory from Bernard's posts? ) that the gadget that impressed the prunt mark was  sometimes bought 'off the shelf' so more than one maker might have used a similar prunt mark.
So it might be that all elements of design need to be taken into account to try and obtain an id of a specific maker.

Love both pieces on the thread :)

sorry I don't see the similarity with the prunt on the pontil mark of Andrew's piece  :-\
apart from the fact they both have an impressed mark on the pontil mark (or over the pontil mark).  This occurs on quite a few pieces I've seen.
I have two.
