Here is a nice glass near identical (apart from the subject matter) to the one on page 178 Hajdamach 20th Century British glass.

Looks beautifully made, no pontil and some base wear.


5 inches in height, 2 6/8th inches across the rim and 2 1/2 inches across the base.

The figures are 1 1/4 inches in height

These "Birds of Paradise" are on the next page 180 in an advert bottom left hand corner.

5 1/2 and 4 1/2 inches in height, 2 1/4 inches across the base.

(From the shop in lye Keith, they have been there for ages, only recognised them last night when i was looking up the first one, i picked them up to put on here today).

I have a chicken of paradise and a 'blue' bird on a thimble of paradise

I'm sure this is Swingewood but now i'm beginning to think the birds of paradise are Arculus and not S&W, the third battered example i have come across recently but i picked this one up due to the stupid price and unusual cut stem and foot i have not seen before.

It measures  7 1/2 inches in height and is missing the rider, the pen holder and glass bar or pen?.
