Vaseline glass pitcher with etched grape design
« on: December 19, 2016, 02:36:52 PM »
Could someone help me identify this pitcher?  I thought it was Macbeth-Evans, but the rim is not correct.  It could also be Hocking Glass.  I can't find any pictures of one with the braided or roped rim.

 :) Hello again.
Jugs are notoriously difficult to track a maker down for. The style of this one is familiar, but without the rigaree around the rim and without any etching, I've had one (no id found, it went back to a charity shop) and I suspect at one time most of us who collect glass have had one of these too.
But not with rigaree and etching.  ;D

So, is that a nice way of saying it's not worth collecting?  Lol.  I'm a newbie and love it all right now.  I've got to start being more selective.

Possibly Bartlett-Collins (Sapulpa, Oklahoma)?? Is the mould joint mark visible on the length of the handle? If so, it's a press/blow item. The big Weatherman Depression glass book is worth a look.

We were all newbies once. And this is a hot-and-cold worked bit of uranium glass - it IS interesting.
I'm not even sure about country of origin for this shape and colour of uranium glass jug, they turn up regularly in Scotland.
