Mdina Boffo fish...
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:26:10 AM »
Thanks very much to John  for finding this Boffo fish ....and for kindly selling it to me !

These are rare and difficult to find. Made by Boffo at Mdina during the 1970's , contains silver chloride. There is some excess glass to one side of the top fin. The first attempt to apply the fin failed and it flopped over to one side, most probably because the glass was too runny. It was saved and sold privately in this condition (probably through a  shop popular with tourists )    . It's 20cm  tall .

Thanks Sue, I'm so pleased with it. When I look at it every day it brings a smile to my face  :D

I will always remember that  moment when John first showed it to me ...it's much more curvey and three dimentional than I imagined it to be.

Well I think it's the first piece of glass I own that can really be attributed to Boffo . I'd like to thank Patrick and Wolfie for their reseach into these fish too....they sure are difficult to find .

Here is a pic. from above which shows the curves ...
