Did Victorians produce aqua decanters like this?
« on: September 16, 2017, 11:24:17 PM »
I may be going back to buy this charity shop find. It smacks of quality. Star cut polished base to both it and the shot glasses with wear. I talked myself out of it because I'm an idiot (I think - glad to be proved wrong). My instinct from the shape and engraving was early to mid Victorian but I've never seen a decanter or any other glass of this colour. My question is is it right for a Victorian decanter?

This shape/style of this decanter would be described as Late Georgian / Prussian not Victorian - typical decanter shape for the Victorian period was shaft and globe

Ha, you may be right but I've decided not to go back for it anyway. With two Holmegaard kluks and a three ring Georgian, I have enough to meet my decanting needs.
