ID assistance.Hand painted opalescent vase.French??
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:22:05 PM »
Can anyone assist in identifying this vase.
It's handpainted, stands 6 1/2" tall, has a rough pontil mark on a base that is polished and slightly concave towards the middle. There is also another mark which may be a makers mark.Hope you can help.

Hello and welcome, just a number 6 I'm afraid, a lot of glass like this have numbers on the base, could be French although probably Bohemian, nice piece identifying a maker may be very difficult, see what others have to say  ;D

The 6 is the decorators or gilders mark, it would have been piecework so they would have been paid for the number they decorated. Bohemian would be my guess.

Are you sure it's a vase? Looks like a cordial decanter from a set missing its stopper.
